Jaycar's range of components is excellent, they even sell selected surface mount devices.
Dick Smith Electronics Dick Smith Electronics
Dick Smith seem to be phasing out component sales, but still offer plenty of basic parts and hardware.
Surplus Tronics Surplustronics
Based in Auckland, these guys sell all sorts of crazy old (and new) parts and equipment at very competitive prices.
South Island Component Centre South Island Component Centre
This is possibly the only place in New Zealand to stock some of the more obscure logic devices, such as matrix keypad scanners.
PMB Electronics PMB Electronics
PMB Electronics offers a small range of components at very reasonable prices.
Farnell InOne Farnell InOne
Another good place to get some obscure parts but as far as I know, your orders come from Australia which boosts the postage a bit.

Parallax Inc Parallax Inc
Parallax is responsible for the BASIC Stamp. All products on this site should be available locally through eSource Ltd.
PICAXE Microcontrollers PICAXE
The PICAXE is a microcontroller which executes BASIC tokens much like the BASIC Stamp, at considerably less cost.
Texas Instruments Texas Instruments
Creator of the MSP430 low power micros and many other things.
CadSoft Eagle Layout Editor CadSoft Online
CadSoft are the authors of EAGLE (Easily Applicable Graphical Layout Editor) which is a software package for creating PCB designs. It's reasonably priced (as layout editors go) and a usable freeware version is available.
